Incorporating the fields of accountancy, banking and insurance, the finance sector’s recovery from the global recession has been nothing short of remarkable. Plagued by mass job losses and damage to its reputation, the sector has seen a significant rise in demand for labour over the last couple of years. And this trend is set to continue.

The sector has been characterised of late by a major series of mergers and acquisitions as well as widespread restructuring. This has fuelled demand for project specialists with niche skills and experiences not already found within a company’s existing workforce.

As the sector continues to expand, the biggest challenge it faces is in filling the roles it needs, leaving many organisations to rely on international workers to meet demand.

One role that is particularly sought-after is compliance. The post-recession era forced the world’s financial institutions to improve standards, with strict new codes of conduct introduced at a universal level. This has led to an increase in demand for compliance and quality assurance specialists.

Accountants, actuaries and business analysts are also in high demand as are financial analysts, auditors and financial managers.
